Charity concert "Together for Ukraine" at the National Theatre in Sofia
Bulgarian National Television, Bulgarian National Radio and “Ivan Vazov” National Theatre joined forces in support of the victims of the war in Ukraine.
The concert "Together for Ukraine", backed by the public service broadcasters, the National Theatre and the Presidential Institution has united through music for even greater solidarity and empathy for Ukraine and its people.
The Big Band and the Mixed Choir of the Bulgarian National Radio took part in the charity concert on March 28. It also featured two Ukrainians - one is already an established opera star and the other is still a student.
The funds raised via text messages to short number 1466, donations on the spot or to the bank account of the Bulgarian Red Cross will be used to assist victims of the war in Ukraine.
"Never again war! Our parents provided us with peace all these years. This is what we must provide for the next generation, for our children and grandchildren. A very firm stand - all democratic forces around the world to stop the fighting as soon as possible, to end the humanitarian crisis and catastrophe, the people who were forced to leave their homes to return where they belong - in their homeland," said Vice President Iliana Iotova.
The important message at this moment is that Ukraine and Ukrainians are not alone, both the Ukrainians who are subjected to a war through no fault of their own, but because of the aggression and invasion of the Russian Federation on their territory, and those Ukrainian people here in Bulgaria, and for whom each of us in our own way cares, but also for the state, which cares as much as possible to reduce their suffering," said Grozdzan Karadzhov - Minister of Regional Development and Public Works.
"Of course, together, this is our main message, and when people are together at this time there can be no war, but happy and loving people," said Marius Donkin - director of the National Theatre "Ivan Vazov".
"It is really important to show that the institutions are together. At this time, when we have a lot of problems, we need to have a clear position. People are suffering in war. We need to help and to lend a hand and that's what we are doing today," said Emil Koshlukov - Director General of BNT.
"The message is that together we are stronger and that together we unite in the name of life", said Milen Mitev - Director General of BNR.
