Dozens donated blood on 'Giving Tuesday' at MMA
Dozens took part in the blood donation campaign "Be one of us! Donate blood - save a life!" initiated in the Military Medical Academy in Sofia.
28 November is the global day of giving, which has become known worldwide as "Giving Tuesday". And the focus is on donating to a favourite cause.
This is the day we give and celebrate generosity. A day when we join forces to support charitable causes important to society, said the Bcause Foundation, on whose initiative a free blood donation campaign was organised today at the Military Medical Academy (MMA).
"Nearly 30 people participated, and there were also donors outside the initiative. For us, promoting free blood donation is a mission. That is why we periodically organise campaigns under the slogan "Be one of us! Donate blood - save a life!", commented Dr. Krasimira Terzieva from the MMA Transfusion Hematology Centre.
Blood donation changes the lives of thousands of MMA patients every year. The needs are daily - for various serious surgeries, for road accident victims, for cancer patients and others.
Dr. Terzieva reported that in recent years there has been an increase in unpaid blood donations at MMA, and the mobile teams have not stopped working even during the pandemic.
Outside the "Be one of us! Donate blood - save a life!", anyone can donate hope to a patient at the MMA Blood Centre, every day from 8.00 to 16.00. For further information you can call: 02/ 92 25 506.
"We thank everyone who is helping us in the battle for life!" said the Military Medical Academy.
