EC approves 120 million BGN in aid for grain and oilseed crop producers
The European Commission has approved a Bulgarian scheme of approximately €61.3 million (BGN 120 million) to support farmers, grain and oilseed crops producers in the context of Russia's war against Ukraine.
The scheme was approved under the Temporary Framework for State Aid in Crisis and Transition adopted by the Commission on 9 March 2023 and amended on 20 November 2023 to support measures in sectors that are key to accelerating the green transition and reducing fuel dependency.
Under the scheme, support will consist of limited aid in the form of direct grants. The measure will be open to producers of wheat, barley, rapeseed, maize and sunflower who are at risk of losing financial liquidity due to difficulties in the agricultural market caused by Russia's war against Ukraine.
The European Commission has launched an online survey to gather views on administrative obstacles in agriculture.
