Ecumenical Patriarch performed a Trisagion for late Bulgarian Patriarch Neophyte
The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and representatives of the local Orthodox Churches were welcomed at the Cathedral of of Saint Kyriaki on June 30.
They prayed together during the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral. The Patriarch blessed the faithful, and then performed a Trisagion for the repose of the soul of the late Patriarch of Bulgaria, Neophyte, whose tomb is located in the surrounding area of the Church.
His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew is the 270th Ecumenical Patriarch and Archbishop of Constantinople, first among equals among the Primates of the Orthodox Churches of the world since November 2, 1991. His seat is in Istanbul.
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew arrived yesterday at Sofia to attend the enthronement of the new Bulgarian Patriarch.
