Fire breaks out again in Sakar Mountain, state of emergency declared in Harmanli and Topolovgrad
Wildfire broke out again in Sakar Mountain - on the territories of the municipalities of Harmanli and Topolovgrad, Southern Bulgaria.
The district governor of Haskovo, Mehmed Ataman, on August 6 declared a state of emergency on the territory of the two municipalities, because of the rapid expansion of the fire.
The fire broke out around 13:35 near the village of Cherepovo. Due to high temperatures and strong wind, the fire has grown and it is difficult to be contained. There is a risk of affecting populated areas as well as enter the territory of Stara Zagora district.
There is a danger of damaging people's health, as well as causing significant damage to forests, agricultural plantations, residential and commercial buildings and property of people and business entities, said Haskovo Disrict Governor Mehmed Ataman.
Due to the fire and heavy smoke, the road from the village of Cherepovo to Golyomata zvezda and the section from Golyomata zvezda to the village of Izvorovo has been closed.
A request has been made for extinguishing by air.
