Large wildfire in the lands of 3 villages in Pazardzhik region (video)
Some 3,000 decares of dry grasses, stubble and bushes in the region Pazardzhik, Southern Bulgaria, were scorched by wildfire during the night. The fire burned for hours in the land of the villages of Pamidovo, Karabunar and Velichkovo.
Fortunately, the flames were extinguished before reaching the settlements. Firefighters from Pazardzhik, Septemvri and Belovo took part in the extinguishing, which proved extremely difficult due to the dry weather and strong winds.
Currently, the fire has been completely extinguished, the spokesman of the Ministry of Interior in Pazardzhik Miroslav Stoyanov told BNT on July 27. The cause of the fire is still being clarified, but local people say it could have been deliberate arson.
The mayor of Karabunar, Ivan Kamenarsky, recalled that 2 decares of coniferous forest burned in a wild fire in neighbouring area 3 years ago.
