MRF in consultations with President: It is most logical to support government mandate of election winner GERB
It is most logical to support the mandate of the winner in the elections - this is something natural, no matter how small part of the Bulgarian citizens voted., Yordan Tsonev, the deputy chairman of the Movement for Rights and freedoms (MRF) group said as representatives of his party on June 24 met with President Rumen Radev for consultations before he hands over a mandate to GERB-UDF to seek to form a government. Radev asked the MRF how they assess the prospects for forming a cabinet in the 50th Parliament.
Bulgaria's President gave the start of consultations on forming a government
"According to the Constitution, if the first exploratory mandate fails, the second one necessarily comes to you. Do you already have any ideas for its implementation".
“The people definitely do not want new elections. they want the astable political process and a regular cabinet to addrress their problems, Yordan Tsonev replied.
"The election results and the low voter turnout clearly indicate a broken trust in political entities, even in particular in the political process in the country. This is a trend that has been developing over the past three or four years and is due to the fact that political forces in the country are moving away from the agenda of the institutions."
According to Tsonev, the smaller parties' request for a cabinet with their own mandate does not mean that this mandate will be supported by the first two political forces.
"We don't see any difference in this, except in political ego. The citizens of Bulgaria have clearly told us that political and party egos must be suppressed for the sake of solving their problems."
MRF called on the President to step into the role of mediator between the political forces.

Under the Constitution, the first two mandates go to the two largest groups in Parliament, GERB-UDF and MRF. If they fail to form a government, the President hands over the third mandate to a parliamentary group at his discretion. If it fails too, a caretaker government is appointed and parliamentary elections are scheduled within two months.
