New requirements for price of bread introduced

From 1 July until the end of the year, VAT on bread will remain 0%.

The mark-up for white, standard and Dobrudja type bread is limited to a maximum of 15%..

"This is a wrong policy as it will increase the accounting work of all companies. They all produce several types of bread. The question is who will control this thing," Dimitar Bakalov, a producer, told BNT “The Day Begins” programme on May 2

He said it would make labour more expensive.

"In my opinion, in a market economy, there should be no ceilings," Dimitar Bakalov said, adding that there has been no change in the prices of raw materials.
