Owners of solar power plants staged national protest near Pleven

Dozens of owners of solar power plants from across the country blocked the traffic on the main road Russe-Sofia near Pleven (Northern Bulgaria) at 9:00 am on June 26. The people were protesting against the newly introduced methodology for determining the prices of balancing electricity. They say it dooms the renewable energy sources sector to bankruptcy and threatens the financial security of the market as well as the entire energy system. The protesters hope for a consensus with the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission. Otherwise, they vowed that the protests will continue in Sofia.

The road remained closed for 20 minutes, until 9:20.
