PM Denkov commenting on EC's decision to close CVM: EC is aware we are on the right track
The European Commission is aware that we are on the right track, Prime Minister Acad. Nikolai Denkov commented on the European Commission’s decision to close the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism for Bulgaria and Romania on September 15.
European Commission formally closes the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism for Bulgaria
At the opening of the school year in the village of Karadzhovo in Plovdiv, Acad. Denkov said:
"This is an assessment of the progress that has been made in recent months. Since this National Assembly started working, several important bills have been adopted, which have been awaited for many years, and the European Commission is clearly aware that we are on the right track," the Prime Minister said.
He added that the adoption of these laws, which are awaited and which would help people to live better, is being accelerated. Denkov, however, pointed out that there remained problems with the justice system. Not because the European Commission wants something, but because people expect faster and fairer justice.
"That is why we are changing the laws. We are changing them in the right way and one of the results now is that this special mechanism, which was used only for Bulgaria and Romania, is closed."
In the PM’s words, when we do our job in Bulgaria we will have very strong negotiating positions with everyone. He believes that then we will be able to say that we have done everything and no one has the right to stop us. The Prime Minister stressed that there are still recommendations that we have not been able to implement, but we are catching up with this delay at a fast pace.
