PM Glavchev: North Macedonia should honour its commitments in order to move forward on the path to EU
The Republic of North Macedonia should honour its commitments to move forward on the path towards the European Union. This is what caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said during the European Council meeting, the Cabinet press service reported on June 28.
The Bulgarian caretaker Prime Minister brought the issue to the attention of his European counterparts in Brussels in connection with the developments in the Republic of North Macedonia in recent weeks.
Glavchev drew attention to the serious challenges that are emerging in terms of the European perspective of the EU candidate country. The Heads of State and Government reiterated the importance of good neighbourly relations, the need for the EU candidate countries to strictly implement their commitments to the EU and the necessary reforms.
Greek media have reported that Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and Foreign Minister, Yorgos Gerapetritis, have also raised with the European Union the issue of the new leadership of the Republic of North Macedonia violating the Prespa Treaty, in particular in its part on the use of the country's constitutional name, Greek media report.
The caretaker Prime Minister noted yesterday that he would bring to the attention of his EU counterparts the issue of respecting the agreements reached with the Republic of North Macedonia.
