Police in Burgas uncovers new QR code drug distribution scheme
Four detained
Police in the coastal city of Burgas revealed a new scheme for drug distribution - by scanning a QR code.
When a buyer goes to get their goods, he receives a physical card with a QR code along with the drug.
When scanned, the person is redirected to a Telegram channel where different types of drugs can be purchased.
A total of four people have been arrested for distributing a large amount of drugs during the raid, which has been taking place since early this morning throughout the Burgas region.
Private addresses in the Pobeda and Acacia residential districts were checked and searches were carried out. The type of drugs is still being clarified, as well as the exact quantity.
"This way, at any time he wants, he can buy the right amount of drugs he is looking for. From our side, we will work out what are the possibilities to enter these channels. The people who are inside, how they communicate in these channels and to identify at a later stage all the other participants who are in this scheme," said Commissioner Marin Dimitrov, head of the Security Police and Traffic Department at the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Burgas.
