Police officers staging a national protest on Saturday to demand pay rise
Police officers are staging a national protest on Saturday, July 15, in front of the building of Bulgaria’s Parliament. They are demanding a 10% increase in salaries .
"We will absolutely insist, until the last possible moment, that this happens. We are adamant. We underline that whatever finance minister Assen Vassilev says, an increase in our salaries would be an appreciation of our work. If this is not changed, we will assume that the evaluation is low, and this brings down the motivation of the employees," said the Deputy Chairman of the Trade Union, Iliya Kuzmanov.
Last week, police officers and fire fighters protested in Sofia, demanding changes in the draft budget for this year, providing for at least a 10% increase in basic salaries.
Finance Minister Assen Vassilev said that the Ministry of Interior received a 20% pay rise last year, so they will not receive a pay rise this year.
