Political reactions after TISP party left the coalition government
The other 3 coalition partners reacted immediately after “There is Such a People” (TISP) leader, Slavi Trifonov, said on June 8, that he was pulling out his ministers from the government. The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) insisted on the budget to be adopted, the reforms to be continued and declared full support for the policies of the government of Kiril Petkov.
"Democratic Bulgaria" believes that an answer should be given to what comes next. The opposition GERB-UDF and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms today refused to comment. There was a reaction from "Vazrazhdane" party.
The BSP called an emergency meeting of the Executive Bureau, the leadership of the PG and their ministers in the coalition. After the discussion, leader Kornelia Ninova made a statement.
"First - for us the most important thing in the short term is to adopt the budget update. Our proposals, which are in line with the policies we have been defending for years, are included in this update, namely to help young families and children by reducing taxes, to increase pensions from 1 October to recalculate them, to increase food vouchers for workers. To support farmers with this additional 168 million to guarantee the food of the Bulgarian people," she said.
Ninova thanked the partners for the adopted proposal to give additional funds for transport lines in remote settlements, small villages, as well as cards for pensioners and people with disabilities.
Elections now means more chaos, deepening of crises, lack of Parliament to take adequate decisions, and uncertainty and we cannot allow this to happen. Thirdly, we strongly support the policy stated by Prime Minister Petkov today and by “We Continue the Change” for fighting corruption and GERB governance model.
Kornelia Ninova denied that there were any talks about who would occupy the ministerial seats vacated by “There is Such a People”. We support the candidacy of Boyko Rashkov for the head of the anti-corruption commission.
We will propose all this as a decision at our party’s national council on Sunday. And to our coalition partners.
The position of “Democratic Bulgaria” is that they have never denied that the coalition is difficult and responsibility should be taken if the country is led to greater agony.
"The country must hold someone accountable for its governance or someone take responsibility for pushing it towards more chaos. Someone must come out and clearly say what alternative they are putting forward. This coalition is difficult, it is not working well and this is not something we have not said before. The question now is whether it will get better and how. I heard Mr Trifonov, with my respects, say that he was putting an end to this agony. I hope it does not turn out that we are pushing the country towards more agony. So, my question is what follows next and everyone from now on should give the recipe for this and take responsibility," said “Democratic Bulgaria” co-chairman Hristo Ivanov.
“Democratic Bulgaria" will insist on a serious conversation about the future within the coalition and within Parliament.
From the opposition, only "Vazrazhdane" party commented on the departure of "There is Such a People" from the coalition. “Vazrazhdane” leader Kostadin Kostadinov's position is that new elections are coming.
"Better late than never. This agony has already bothered the Bulgarian people a lot", he commented.
What kind of support the triple coalition will have in the National Assembly from now on remains to be seen.
