In accordance with the Constitution, the Head of State on July 1 signed a decree proposing the 50th Parliament to vote on the candidate for Prime Minister nominated with the first government-forming mandate - Rosen Zhelyazkov.
GERB-UDF proposed Rosen Zhelyazkov as Prime Minister and returned the mandate.
This morning, Head of State Rumen Radev handed the first mandate to seek to form a government to Rosen Zhelyazkov, the candidate for Prime Minister nominated by the largest parliamentary group GERB-UDF. Rosen Zhelyazkov returned the mandate fulfilled and presented the structure and line-up of a draft cabinet.

Upon handing over the mandate to form a regular government, the head of state said that this was a big responsibility and a test given the highly fragmented Parliament and the fact that the majority of Bulgarian citizens had not exercised their right to vote (referring to the low voter turnout on June 9 elections).
"This invariably affects the legitimacy of the institutions, which needs to be addressed with systematic efforts to protect the public interest," the Head of State said.
