President Radev: Compromises for the formation of this government affect the foundations of democracy
President Rumen Radev made laconic comments on the sidelines of Parliament after the new regular government with Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov was voted into office on June 6th.:
"Bulgaria clearly must have a regular government and a functioning Parliament, but this government was formed with extremely heavy compromises, which deeply affect the foundations of democracy and morality in politics, and this implies risks and uncertainty."
President Radev walked out of the National Assembly before Bulgaria's newly elected Cabinet took the oath of office.

Before the start of the debate today, he sharply criticised the GERB-UDF and WCC-DB, saying they had won at the expense of democracy.
"I hope the government will not betray the national interests as the leaders of the new coalition betrayed the trust of their voters," President Rumen Radev said this morning before the start of the extraordinary plenary session of the Parliament, at which the Denkov-Gabriel draft cabinet was voted.
"Our society is yet to make sense of the processes around the formation of this coalition because it makes the elections meaningless and elections are the basis of democracy", Radev added.
"You remember how Boyko Borissov persuaded people to vote for himv - he was saying that "We Continue the Change" (WCC) have ruined the country and if they were allowed into power, they would finish it. Today Borissov is giving them, "We Continue the Change" all the power. You remember how "We Continue the Change" had occupied social networks to convince that GERB were mafia and should be wiped out of Bulgarian politics. Today they share their power with GERB. Remember how "Democratic Bulgaria" led the Bulgarian citizens on a crusade against the backstage and the oligarchy. Today they are begging for their approval and begging for some kind of salvation in order to secure a place in the power, begging for their blessing, to be more precise. They all won at the expense of the deceived voters and democracy.
Politics is not all about interests and mathematics to form a majority. It is primarily about values. The vote today will show whether the MPs of these parties, whether they all have amputated dignity and have accepted the role of being just ordinary voters," the President said on entering Parliament this morning.
