President Radev congratulated Claudia Sheinbaum on election as Mexican President and invited her to Bulgaria

Bulgaria’s Head of State, Rumen Radev, congratulated Claudia Sheinbaum on her election as President of the United Mexican States.

The Bulgarian President is confident that the traditional ties of respect and fruitful cooperation between Bulgaria and Mexico, as well as the long-standing friendly relations, will continue to develop and strengthen in the future in all areas of mutual interest, both bilaterally and multilaterally.

On behalf of the Bulgarian people and on his own behalf, the Bulgarian President wishes Claudia Scheinbaum good health and success in her forthcoming highly responsible mission and invites her to visit Bulgaria.

The 61-year-old Claudia Sheinbaum is a descendant of Bulgarian Jews Her grandparents, from her mother’s side, were from Plovdiv and Sofia. In the 1940s they left Bulgaria - first they moved to Paris, and when France was occupied by the Nazis, they fled to Mexico. The newly elected President was born there. Her relatives, however, still live in Plodiv.
