President Radev started meetings with the potential caretaker Prime Ministers
Bulgaria’s President, Rumen Radev, on March 28 started with meetings with all the potential caretaker Prime Ministers.
The first to arrive at the President’s office was the Speaker of the Parliament, Rosen Zhelyazkov. After a conversation with the Head of State, which lasted less than 30 minutes, Zhelyazkov left the presidential building without commenting on the meeting to the media.
After the meeting with the President, BNB Governor, Dimitar Radev, commented that it was neither far-sighted nor a good idea for the central bank to interfere in conjunctural political processes. He pointed out that there is a code of ethics and rules of the ECB which prohibit the governors and deputy governors of the BNB from holding political positions.

The Head of the National Audit Office, Dimitar Glavchev, also came to the presidency for a meeting with the President. He did not stop to comment to the media.
Tomorrow the meetings are expected to continue with the BNB's sub-governors - Andrei Gyurov, Petar Chobanov and Radoslav Milenkov.
What are the options for a caretaker prime minister?
After the amendments to the Constitution adopted in 2023, the choice for a caretaker prime minister is reduced to 10 figures - the Speaker of Parliament, the Governor or three deputy governors of the Bulgarian National Bank, the Head or two deputy heads of the National Audit Office, and the ombudsman or his deputy.
Yesterday, this list became shorted after the deputy ombudsman, Elena Cherneva - Markova, resigned from the post.
