Prosecutor's Office launches a probe into the leadership of Bulgarian Football Union
The investigation is initiated in relation to publications about alleged match-fixing and spending of public money
On the order of the Acting Prosecutor General, Borislav Sarafov, Sofia City Prosecutor's Office on November 17 launched an investigation into the activities of the President and the leadership of the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU).
The Prosecutor's Office has initiated an investigation in connection with numerous publications in the media containing information about alleged violations and/or crimes of various nature - spending of public resources, "match-fixing" and others, by the leadership of the Bulgarian Football Union, including the President of the federation, Borislav Mihailov.
Sofia City Prosecutor's Office has been tasked with the investigation and is to clarify facts and circumstances related to the activities of the Football Federation in recent years.
In the course of the inspection, information is to be requested from various state institutions - the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Revenue Agency, etc.
