Red alert for dangerously hot weather in 7 districts in Bulgaria, with temperatures around and above 42°

Today, July 26, will be mostly sunny. Temperatures will drop quickly in the afternoon and in the early hours on Thursday as a cold front passes through. Heavy cumulus clouds will develop. In many places, there will be brief showers and thunderstorms, in some areas they will be intense and significant in amount, hail storms are also expected. The wind will be oriented from the west-northwest and will be moderate, in the Danube plain temporarily strong. In north-western Bulgaria, daytime temperatures will fall and the maximum will be between 33° and 38°, while in the eastern part of the country they will still be very high - up to 42°-43°, in Sofia - around 36°.

On the Black Sea coast it will be sunny. In the evening, mainly over the northern Black Sea coast, there will be brief showers. A moderate south-easterly wind will be blowing, which will be from the west-north-west and will get stronger late in the evening. Maximum temperatures will be 33° to 38°. The sea water temperature is 24°-26°.

In the afternoon, in many places in the mountains of the western half of the country, there will be short, in places intense rain with thunderstorms and hail. A moderate, temporarily strong southwest wind will blow, which will begin to orient from the west-northwest in the evening. High temperatures, the maximum at 1,200 metres will be about 29°, but at 2,000 metres the temperature will be about 22°.

On Thursday it will be windy, with variable clouds, mainly in eastern Bulgaria there will be brief showers. Daytime temperatures will drop significantly and the maximum will be between 25° and 30°. In the coming days it will be mostly sunny. Winds will ease on Friday and will gradually get less strong in many areas on Saturday.
