We held a working meeting with ‘We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria’ (WCC-DB). I thank them for having the political courage to invite us to talks despite our stated position. We asked questions, which were answered. The draft declaration will be tabled in the Parliament and debated by committees, Rossen Zhelyazkov of GERB-UDF said on July 17 after meeting with WCC-DB in connection with their proposal for a draft declaration.

In his words, although the draft declaration will be submitted to the Parliament, it will probably undergo editing, but important priorities are anti-corruption legislation and the law on criminal assets forfeiture.

"We are against the labeling of pro-European and pro-Atlantic. Only a majority that can elect a government ensures this Parliament's life, and the President should not be asked to act as a 'time lord' and decide how much and how long Parliament should work. We believe that the impossibility to form stable majority sends us to new elections. These talks are a good platform for reaching common goals, including legislation and opportunities to form a majority. In the remaining time of this National Assembly, we will work for legislative initiatives on these topics. We will not support a government on the second mandate, but we will support all anti-corruption initiatives if such anti-corruption majority is formed," Zhelyazkov said.
