"We Continue the Change" - "Democratic Bulgaria" presented a draft declaration on ending the political crisis in the country

"We Continue the Change" - "Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB) on July 15 sent to the media a draft declaration on resolving the political crisis in Bulgaria. The document has already been sent to all MPs, the coalition said.

Earlier today representatives of the coalition met with President Rumen Radev. WCC-DB asked the Head of State to give them three months before handing them the second government-forming mandate so that they could seek broad support for a package of legal changes to enhance the fight against corruption. The meeeting with the President was at the request of WCC-DB, who said they wanted to discuss the current political situation with him.

After the talks, it became clear that WCC-DB is proposing a judicial reform before a government is elected in the 50th Parliament. The coalition is seeking the support of 160 lawmakers to pass seven anti-corruption bills before starting the actual talks on a government. If such support is found, the process could take about 3 months.

WCC-DB is proposing changes to 7 major laws and resolutions.These include the Judicial System Act, the reform of the Anti-Corruption Commission, the law on Whistleblowers Protection, the Personal Bankruptcy Act, the Criminal Procedure Code, the election of a new Ombudsman and the beginning of reforms in the security services through the introduction of integrity tests. The drafts of the laws are compiled in a Declaration that WCC-DB will table in the Parliament.

WCC-DB is making the vote on the draft declaration, and subsequently on the bills, a condition for the start of the formation of a government with the second mandate.
