Socialist Party: The slap-dash changes made in the judiciary has been confirmed by the decision of the Constitutional Court
The news is exclusive, I have not yet read the reasoning of the constitutional judges, but in terms of the decisions taken, I am satisfied that everything we have been saying in recent months about the slap-dash changes made in the judiciary, has been confirmed by the decision of the Constitutional Court. It is not satisfactory, but we saw this decision coming, because the reform itself was done extremely unprofessionally, with extremely controversial moments and even at the moment when they were voted it was clear that the result would be like this, said Atanas Zafirov from the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP).
Constitutional Court declares most constitutional changes as invalid
He defined the decision of the Constitutional Court as expected.
"I think that the parties, which were most active in this process, should now, at least for some time, remain silent on the issue and stop pushing this type of judicial reforms and reform issues in the eyes of the public," Atanas Zafirov added.
On the powers of the President, Zafirov commented: "The fact that the votes were divided - 6 to 6, clearly shows that there was a debate, both sides had arguments. I would like to believe that no form of political pressure was exerted in making this decision, although some type of logic leads to such reasoning as well. Anyway, the decisions of the CC, and of any court, are not commented on, they are simply implemented."
