Sofia University ranks among the best higher education institutions in the world for business education
Sofia University received three accreditations for its Master's programmes in Business Administration from the leading accrediting agency AMBA. This places the university in the top 300 best institutions for business education.
The management strives to attract more international students and meet the modern needs of business for quality education and qualification of personnel.
For the first time, Sofia University's three Masters in Business Administration programmes in English have received international accreditation from AMBA.
"It includes the Faculty of Economics and Sofia University among the 300 best business schools in the world - only the top 2% of universities in the world have this accreditation," said Assoc. Prof. Atanas Georgiev, Dean of the Faculty of Economics of Sofia University.
"This is the first time a Bulgarian educational institution has received such accreditation, which means setting the highest level of standards," said Assoc. Prof. Ivan Angelov, head of the MBA programme at the Faculty of Economics at Sofia University.
The university hopes to attract more students from abroad. In Iraq alone, there are hundreds of alumni united in their own association.
"The most important message is that education can become part of foreign policy. Many countries have a nostalgia, many parents graduated in Bulgaria in the 70s and 80s and they recommend their children to come and study in Bulgaria," said Assoc. Prof. Todor Yalamov, deputy dean of the Faculty of Economics at Sofia University.
Anastas Terzobaliyev, an alumni of the Sofia University Faculty of Economics and an expert on the Middle East and Africa, said that there are many Bulgarian graduates in leading positions in Iraq - hospital directors, former ministers of agriculture, the minister of education.
There are Sofia University graduates from the Arab countries as well: Egypt, Libya, Jordan, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Syria, Sudan and Yemen, as well as from most African countries. Many of them hold senior government positions, which is indicative of the level of education in Bulgaria. Sofia University is actively working to re-establish educational exchanges, and in recent months cooperation agreements have been signed with the autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan and the Kingdom of Jordan!
The semester fee for the Master's programmes is between 2,000 and 4,000 BGN, depending on the student's citizenship.
