Taxi drivers in Sofia launched indefinite protests
The national trade union of taxis starts an indefinite protest in Sofia against the closure of some taxi stands.
Taxi drivers will express their dissatisfaction at all 131 locations in the capital currently designated by the municipality for taxi stands.
The trade union launched indefinite protests after Mayor Vasil Terziev failed to respond to their request for a meeting. The discontent escalated after the new traffic and parking adjustments on "Vitosha" bulevard, where the taxi stand was removed.
The industry said that 22 taxi stands have been closed from the "centre" and "first" zone in the capital without any debate. Their demands are for more stands and to establish communication between the industry and the Urban Mobility Centre on the repatriation of vehicles parked on spaces designated for taxis.
