The circle of suspects for the murder of Peyo Peev is getting wider
The Ministry of Interior suspects that Gabriela and her mother, arrested for the murder of Peyo Peev in Sofia, have accomplices and are hiding them, the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Zhivko Kotsev, told BNT on January 25. He added that he expects the Prosecutor's Office to change Gabriela's measure from house arrest to detention in custody. The woman was left at home to take care of her children.
The police suspect that other people besides his wife and her mother may have been involved in the murder of 44-year-old Peyo Peev.
"We have suspicions that other persons are involved. On this occasion, a separate pre-trial proceeding for concealment of accessories has been opened under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office. So we clarify absolutely all the facts, we seek to the maximum extent to clarify the objective truth about the motives, the number of participants in this brutal crime", stated Zhivko Kotsev, Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.
The Chief Secretary has also viewed the recordings from the security cameras, which captured the actions of the two women on the night of the murder.
"The footage is really disturbing, within about 3 minutes," explained Zhivko Kotsev, chief secretary of the Ministry of Interior.
Zhivko Kotsev refused to say more about what he saw, but clarified that the footage was upsetting. He said that he expected the house arrest of the detainee Gabriela Slavova to be changed. It was initially thought that it was better for her to be at home to take care of her children.
"I expect my colleagues from the Prosecutor's Office to protest her measure and ask for the more severe one, namely detention in custody."
Zhivko Kotsev once again confirmed that the two children were removed to a safe family environment.
"Urgent protection measures have been imposed for the children and they have been given to Peyo's parents (he parents of the murdered) for care," he said.
Meanwhile, former MP from “We Continue the Change”, Veliko Minkov, who claims to be the biological father of the younger child, came forward with an emotional Facebook post. In it, he admitted that he feared for the life of the 4-month-old baby and thanked the mother of the murdered Peev for taking care of the children.
