Sofia's new mayor Vassil Terziev and the newly elected municipal councillors took the oath of office at the first sitting of the city parliament on November 13. The members of the city parliament will also elect the new chair of the Sofia Municipal Council.

The first meeting was convened and opened by the Sofia-City Governor, Vyara Todeva.
“The local parliament of Bulgaria's largest city can and should be an example of adopting decisions with consensus for the rise of Sofia and its residents. I believe that the local executive in the person of Vassil Terziev and his team can and will be an example of honesty and integrity to the people. In the 21st century, when artificial intelligence is entering more and more into ours lives, the motto of The capital city, "Grows up, but does not grow old!" is more than relevant. Let us never forget that the most important thing are the people and their prosperity," said Todeva.
Before taking the oath of office, the newly elected mayor of Sofia Vassil Terziev, municipal councillors, district mayors and mayors of boroughs received their certificates from the chairwoman of the Sofia municipal election commission, Polina Vitanova.
The first meeting of the Sofia City Council was chaired by the oldest councillor, Greti Stefanova, from "We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria-Save Sofia".
The new Sofia City Parliament includes seven political formations. "We Continue the Change" - "Democratic Bulgaria (Save Sofia)" has the largest number of councillors - 23. GERB - UDF have 14. "BSP for Bulgaria" - nine, "Vazrazhdane" - eight, KOD and There is Such a People - each will have three representatives, and VMRO - BND - one. The new municipal councils of Varna, Rousse and Vidin will also hold their first meeting.
