The Ombudsman told President Radev that she cannot be a caretaker prime minister

Ombudsman, Diana Kovacheva, has told the President that she cannot be a caretaker prime minister because she has been elected a judge at the Strasbourg Court of Human Rights and is due to take office by April 17.

She will resign as ombudsman next week.

The President's meetings with potential caretaker prime ministers continue on March 29.

President Radev: The options for choosing a caretaker prime minister are extremely narrow

The ombudsman and deputy ombudsman should stay out of politics, according to the ombudsman. A similar opinion was shared by her deputy Elena Cherneva - Markova, who resigned a few days ago for personal reasons.

In an attempt to speed up the procedure for appointing a caretaker cabinet, the Head of State yesterday started meetings with all potential prime ministers as stipulated in the Constitution.
