Timetable changes for train services via Sofia Central Station

From Monday - 17 June, additional changes will be made to the timetable of some trains in order to ease traffic congestion and shunting activity at Sofia Central Station during the modernisation of the rail tracks at the station.

Railway track renewal works have been completed for 7 of the 14 tracks - 1 to 5, 13 and 14. Work is in progress on tracks 6 to 12. Dismantling activities are complete and digging is in progress. Work is in progress on the construction of foundations for overhead contact line poles.

For the newly built tracks on which the trains run, a new Route-Relay interlocking has been put into trial operation.

Following the introduction of the additional changes to trains timetable, the following adjustments will be made:

  • Fast train No 1611 from Dragoman to Svilengrad will travel on the route from Pernik to Svilengrad. For this reason, a new passenger train No 10215 from Dragoman to Sofia will run on the time schedule of the fast train to Svilengrad in this section;
  • The fast train No 5620 from Blagoevgrad to Sofia will depart 15 minutes earlier from Blagoevgrad station, i.e. at 5.10 am. In the section from Pernik to Sofia, fast train № 1611 from Pernik to Svilengrad will run according to its timetable;
  • Fast train No 5615 from Sofia to Kulata will not run;
  • Fast train No 5610 from Petrich to Sofia will not run;
  • Fast train No 5619 from Sofia to Petrich will run only to Blagoevgrad station;
  • Suburban passenger train No 50230 from Dupnitsa to Kostenets will not run. Fast train No 3621 from Dupnitsa to Burgas will run on its route. This train will depart 22 minutes earlier from Sofia Central Station, i.e. at 7.03 am;
  • A new passenger train № 10221 from Pernik to Kostenets will run on the route of the fast train № 3621 in the section from Pernik to Sofia. This train will replace the passengers of the cancelled suburban passenger train No 50230 in the section from Sofia to Kostenets;
  • The suburban passenger train No 10206 from Sofia to Dragoman will not run. For this reason, the route of passenger train No 30122 from Koprivshtitsa to Sofia is extended along the route of the suburban passenger train to Dragoman;
  • Suburban passenger train No 10207 from Dragoman to Sofia will not run. On its timetable the route of passenger train No 10223 from Dragoman via Sofia to Ihtiman will be extended;
  • Suburban passenger train No 10220 from Vakarel to Bankya will not run. To serve the passengers of this train, the route of passenger train No 10120 from Septemvri to Sofia has been extended with a changed timetable to Bankya;
  • Passenger train 50132 Kulata to Dupnitsa, will travel only in the section from Blagoevgrad to Dupnitsa;
  • Suburban passenger trains No 50250 and No 50258 from Kulata to General Todorov, No 50251 and No 50257 from General Todorov to Kulata will not run, as well as suburban passenger trains No 52208 from Petrich to General Todorov and No 52209 from General Todorov to Petrich;
  • Passenger train No 10111 from Sofia to Plovdiv will depart from Poduyane passenger station instead of Sofia Central station;
  • Passenger train No 10114 from Plovdiv to Sofia will travel to Poduyane passenger station;
  • Suburban passenger train No 10222 from Kostenets to Sofia will run to Poduyane passenger station;
  • Passenger train No 30123 from Sofia to Koprivshtitsa will depart from Poduyane passenger station instead of Sofia Central station;
  • Suburban passenger train No 20259 from Sofia Central Station to Sofia North Station will not run.

The track system upgrade at Sofia Central Station began in the the beginning of May. A change was introduced in the schedule of trains arriving and departing mainly from and to the northern direction - Mezdra, Vidin, Varna, Ruse. It is expected that the construction works on the track system of Sofia Central Station will last 15 months.
