TISP leader Slavi Trifonov names proposed cabinet with Nikolai Vassilev as PM

"There is Such a People" will not form a coalition with any party, will take political responsibility to propose its own government. The government will be composed of experts who will have priorities, " TISP leader Slavi Trifonov said in a video message on Facebook on July 12.

Nikolai Vassilev is the nomination for Prime Minister.

Nikolai Vassilev, 51, was Deputy Prime Minister in the Simeon Saxe-Coburg government from 2001 to 2005 and again in the tripartite coalition government of Saxe-Coburg’s party, the Bulgarian Socialist Party and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms that was in office from 2005 to 2009.

From 2001 to 2003, Vassilev was the Minister of the Economy, from 2003 to 2005, Minister of Transport and Communications, and from 2005 to 2009 was Minister of State Administration and Administrative Reform. He also has a background in the private sector.

"I heard and read all sorts of things about myself - suggestions, lies, all sorts of nonsense. We didn't just do TV shows, we realized a lot of causes. It was all in front of your eyes. It amazes me that there are still people who don't understand what we're doing. We do what is commanded by morality and law.

The current system reproduces immoral people. Apart from morality, we are guided by the law. We complied with the law, despite all obstacles, and organized a referendum. This is the first referendum organized by the members of the public. 3.5 million Bulgarians voted. The will to change the political system was more than definite. Everyone stood against us. I could not accept the throwing of the referendum ideas in the dump. I could not accept that a handful of individuals with complexes would triumph over the Bulgarian people. The only way to change things was from within, but again in compliance with the law. This is how we realized the political project "There is Such a People", which participated in two elections," Trifonov emphasized.

Slavi Trifonov also announced the priorities of his proposed government.

Some of the priorities for this government are:

- construction of kindergartens, regardless of whether they are 50-60 or 100;

- construction of a brand new children's hospital;

- purchase of helicopters for medical and rescue purposes;

- concession and construction of all other motorways, Hemus Motorway, Vidin, Veliko Turnovo, R0usse, as well as the Black Sea Motorway;

- purchase of up to 1 million tablets or laptops and provide the necessary software;

- start of the privatization of the Bulgarian Development Bank - 51% majority package of a strategic investor and 49% through the Bulgarian Stock Exchange;

- a sharp improvement in transparency in public procurement;

- rapid redundencies in the state administration;

- fast digitalization of services;

- introduction of a majority voting electoral system;

- introduction of electronic voting;

- introduction of a party subsidy of BGN 1;

- closure of the Specialized Court and the Specialized Prosecutor's Office;

- accelerated construction and commissioning of the gas interconnector with Greece;

- confirmation of Bulgaria's bid for membership in the OECD, the euro zone and the Schengen Agreement;

- submission of an application for membership in the European Space Agency.
