TPP "Bobov Dol" stopped work for three days due to low electricity prices on the power exchange
Thermal Power Plant "Bobov Dol" temporarily stopped work for maintenance, but mostly because of the low electricity prices on the power exchange, said the Executive Director, Eng. Lyubomir Spasov on January 4. One unit will be put into operation tonight and by Thursday morning, the next night, the second unit will resume work, he added.
The plant temporarily stopped working several times last year because of planned repairs or because of low electricity prices on the exchange. In this case, the reason was low electricity prices, the CEO said:
"We don't have any problem for which the plant is not working at the moment, but we have stopped for maintenance - we are taking the opportunity while the prices at the power exchange are low. Now - at night, we started work in one of the units, in the morning we are already in production. One more unit will start working the day after tomorrow. 150 kilowatt hours per unit."
The company hopes that the government will fulfil its commitment under the Just Transition Plan for the regions with coal-fired power plants - Pernik, Stara Zagora and Kyustendil - and keep them running until at least 2038.
