Two protests in front of the Presidency - one demanding impeachment of the Head of State and the other a referendum on retaining the Bulgarian lev as the sole currency
A protest has been held in front of the Presidency in Sofia demanding the impeachment of the head of state. The reason for the protest are Rumen Radev's words that "Ukraine insists on continuing to wage this war".
The protest under the windows of the Presidency started at 18:30 on July 19, but even before this there were demonstrators on the square in front of the building who said that they do not want the impeachment of the President, but they demand that the Head of State re-submit the proposal for the referendum on retaining the Bulgarian lev as the only official currency until 2043.
So far, there has been no tension between the protesters from the two rallies.
There is enhanced police presence.
