Two young people died in a serious car accident in Plovdiv
Two young people died in a serious car accident in Plovdiv, Southern Bulgaria. The accident occurred in the early hours on May 13, around 3.30 am, on "Russki" boulevard in Plovdiv near the intersection with "6th September" boulevard. Emergency aid, police and fire-fighting teams were directed to the scene.
According to initial information, a four wheel drive coming from the Central Railway Station entered the bike lane between the two lanes and crashed into several plane trees in succession. From the impact, the car split in two - the front part crashed into one of the trees and the rear part spun out onto the roadway.
The 21-year-old driver and a female passenger beside him, in her 20s, were found dead at the scene. A 22-year-old boy and girl who were travelling in the back seat were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
In the meantime, emergency medical assistance was given to a seriously injured employee of the Plovdiv Regional Fire and Rescue Department, who was hit by a tree branch during the rescue operation. Because of the accident, traffic was stopped in both directions on "Russki" bulevard, in the section between "Preslav" street and "6th September" boulevard.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case and the reasons leading to the serious accident are being investigated.
The 22-year-old girl and boy injured in the crash were taken to the emergency ward of the University Hospital "St. George" in Plovdiv. After first aid, both were admitted to the Second Clinic of Surgery in serious condition, with the girl having more serious injuries.
