Vaccinated child from Sofia is the first measles case in Bulgaria for this year

First case of measles for this year has been detected in the country. It is a 4 year old child from Sofia, confirmed Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate confirmed for BNT.

The child was immunized against the disease with the first vaccine, which is given at 13 months. The second immunisation was at the age of 12.

"This is one of the rare cases in which a vaccinated child falls ill," Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate spokeswoman Katya Sungarska told BNT.

Measles case registered in Bulgaria

An immunisation office is open in the Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate, where children without a GP and with missed immunisations and re-immunisations with measles, mumps and rubella vaccine are accepted for immunisation free of charge.

Opening hours of the immunization office are from 8:30 to 12:00 and from 12:30 to 17:00 on weekdays.
