Vice President Iotova receives Ukrainian students and teachers of Bulgarian origin at the Presidency
Vice President Iliana Iotova on July 8 welcomed at the Presidency students from the predominantly ethnic Bulgarian-populated Bolgrad region in Ukraine.
The students are on a five-day educational and awareness-raising seminar in Bulgaria at the invitation of the South-Western University "Neofit Rilski" in cooperation with the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad. The visit is part of the university's initiative to deepen contacts with representatives of Bulgarian historical diasporas. The majority of the students plan to continue their education in Bulgarian universities. Students from Moldova will also visit Bulgaria.
The Vice President thanked the teachers for passing on to the children the knowledge of their ancestral homeland Bulgaria and teaching them the Bulgarian language.
"Thank you for managing to paint the world for our children in colours other than those of the war," Iotova addressed the teachers.
The Vice President expressed her support to the students in the difficult time for their country.
"I believe that reason will prevail and the voice of peace will be heard louder than weapons," she stressed.
