Which parliamentary forces call for annulment of October 27 elections?

Parliamentary forces in the 51st Parliament have called for annulment of the October 27 snap parliamentary elections.

We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (WCC-DB) said it would refer to the Constitutional Court for a review of the election results and a recount of ballots. Vazrazhdane party demanded a recount of the votes. Alliance for Right and Freedoms (ARF) is also backing a demand for a recount of the ballots and a full annulment of the October 27 snap elections. There is Such a People (TISP) leader called for a partial recount. Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh) party have called for the election to be annulled in its entirety and a new election date be set.

WCC-DB said they were giving the GERB leader more time to think whether he was choosing Delyan Peevski or Bulgaria. Only after his final decision will they talk about electing a Speaker of the Parliament.

"With this declaration we do not want to bend Boyko Borissov, we want to straighten him out," said Kiril Petkov of WCC-DB.

"It won’t do any harm to give them another chance to think things through, because if this is their position, they are throwing Bulgaria under the bus," Assen Vassilev of WCC-DB added.

All two and a half million votes should be properly counted, WCC-DB said.

“Vazrazhdane" also want a recount of the votes and announced it on its Facebook page today.

"Alliance for Rights and Freedoms": Our support will be firm for any initiative that seeks a recount of the ballots and annulment of the elections

The Alliance for Rights and Freedoms commented:

"Today, at a meeting of the Central Operative Bureau of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, we decided to support the declaration of We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria to create a sanitary cordon around Delyan Peevski. This declaration is not just an act of political stance, but a step forward in the affirmation of the principles in which the authentic MRF with leader Ahmed Dogan has been speaking for several months now," said Valentin Tonchev, elected MP from the ARF.

ARF also insisted on the establishment of an ad hoc committee to examine the role of Delyan Peevski in the events surrounding the bankruptcy of Commercial Corporate Bank, Bulgartabac, the Bulgarian Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Eight Dwarfs scandal, as well as his influence in the Prosecutor’s Office and the judiciary, Tonchev added.

"Our support will be firm for any initiative that seeks a recount of the ballots and a full annulment of the elections held in flagrant violation before the eyes of the Bulgarian public. We call on the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, as the unifier of the nation, the institution with the highest rating and the political leader who stands equidistant from all political parties, to refer the election violations to the Constitutional Court," Valentin Tonchev said.

ARF believe that one of the most important tasks of the new Parliament is to elect an ombudsman and his deputy, as well as deputy chair of the Audit Office.

Stanislav Balabanov from There is Such a People again confirmed in the studio of "More from the Day"on BNT that his party wants a partial annulment of the elections and explained why:

"We deliberately want them partially annulled and we refer to specific evidence. I express my admiration to the public service broadcaster and to reporter Milena Kirova, who made this coverage to show the violations in some of the polling stations."

Not a partial, but a complete annulment of the results of the elections and a new date for elections are demanded by Radostin Vassilev's MECh party.

"I cannot agree with There is such a People’s wish, because this would lead to the entry of "Velichie" in Parliament, but GERB and Peevski's MRF-New Beginning, which were the main problem with the bought vote and manipulations, remain unaffected. I.e. this is another position of Trifonov that is in favour of these people. I believe that President Radev, seeing that he is delaying the decree to convene the Parliament, should refer to the Constitutional Court. Election should be annuled because of huge manipulations and the state is involved in such manipulations."

Vassilev claims that about 10,000 votes of MECh party were made invalid and thus his party lost two seats. According to Vassilev, GERB leader Boyko Borissov did not give up on Delyan Peevski, despite declaring that he would not work with either Dogan's ARF or Peevski’s MRF - New Beginnings.

"Borissov is with Peevski. The fact that Borissov claims that the two MRF factions are an impossible partner for him, but refuses a sanitary cordon on them is proof enough. On the contrary - at the moment they are trying to expand their possible coalition with TISP and BSP", said Radostin Vassilev, leader of MECh.

Vassilev added that MECh will not support GERB's candidacy for parliamentary speaker.
