With a minute of silence protesters honoured the memory of the boy killed on a pedestrian crossing in Sofia
Following another death on the road, protesters gathered outside the building of the Ministry of Interior, near the scene where a drunk driver on September 3 run over and killed 15-year-old Philip on a pedestrian crossing. Protesters are demanding justice and tighter controls on the road.
Their demands also include increased alcohol and drug checks on drivers, cameras and so-called "sleeping policemen" at all key locations.
People held a minute's silence in memory of 15-year-old Philip, who was run over on a pedestrian crossing in downtown Sofia on Saturday. The 37-year-old driver's blood sample and a breathalyzer showed two promilles of alcohol. The court is expected to decide tomorrow whether he will be permanently remanded in custody.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has called an emergency meeting on road safety issues, which is held at the Council of Ministers.
PM Denkov said that the confiscation of cars from drunk and drugged drivers should remain in effect
