Women's salaries in Bulgaria remain lower than men's, national statistics data shows
In 2022, women's average hourly earnings were 12.6% lower than men's, according to the latest National Statistical Institute data on the gender pay gap.
The largest pay gaps are in the sectors “Financial and Insurance Activities” - 30.2%, Human Health and Social Work - 24%, “Manufacturing” - 22.8% and “Culture, Sport and Entertainment” - 20.8%.
Women earn more than men in the sectors "Administrative and Support Activities", where the difference is 20%, "Construction" - 16%, "Real Estate Pperations" - 10.1 and "Other activities" - 8.7%.
The gender pay gap represents the difference between the gross hourly earnings of male and female employees as a percentage of the average gross hourly earnings of male employees.
