The Bulgarian author, Georgi Gospodinov, received the “Peroto” Award for his overall contribution to the Bulgarian literary context. The award was presented to him at a ceremony by the Minister of Culture Krustyu Krastev on November 2.
‘Time Shelter’ by Georgi Gospodinov wins International Booker Prize
The literary prizes "TPeroto" are awarded every year in several categories. The prize for children's literature was awarded to Ivanka Mogilska for "Colourful Soap Balloons" (Janet 45 publishing house, illustrated by Elena Vassileva). Velimir Makaveev is the winner in the debut category, for “Dreams in the Garden” (ARS Publishing House).
"Peroto" Award for Poetry went to Violeta Kuneva for "Persephone's Dog" (Janet 45 publishing house). For prose, the prize was awarded to Palmi Ranchev for “Chaos in the Game of Foosball” (Janet 45 publishing house). The prize for translation from Bulgarian into a foreign language went to Marco Vidal for his translation into Spanish of "New Social Poetry. Anthology" and for the poetry website La Tortuga Bulgara.
“Peroto” Awards were presented for the ninth time. The organizers are the literary club "Peroto" and the National Book Centre – National Palace of Culture.
