Court remands Gabriela Slavova and her mother Krasimira Trifonova suspected of stangling Gabriela's husband Peyo Peev to death
The Sofia Court of Appeals on January 30 imposed the most severe pre-trial detention measures on the two women accused in the murder of Peyo Peev. Gabriela Slavova and her mother Krasimira Trifonova were remanded.
The court held that at this stage of the investigation, sufficient evidence had been gathered to make a reasonable assumption that the defendants were guilty of the premeditated murder of Peyo Peev.
New revelations about the brutal murder in which a man was strangled in his car
Until now, the wife of the murdered Peyo Peev had been under house arrest on the grounds that she had to take care of her two children. The children, however, were taken by the social services from Gabriela's care and are currently with the mother of the murdered Peyo Peev. In the meantime, the prosecution appealed against Gabriela Slavova's lighter measure, demanding that she be remanded in custody.
The other woman accused of Peev's murder, his mother-in-law Krasimira Trifonova, is appealing against her detention.
This morning, January 30, relatives of the murdered Peyo Peev gathered in front of the Court Palace in Sofia demanding the remand of Gabriela Slavova and her mother Krasimira Trifonova, rallying under the slogan "Justice for Peyo" and demanding permanent arrest of Gabriela Slavova
Among them were former MP Veliko Minkov, who claims to be the father of Gabriela's second child, and the father of the murdered Peyo Peev.
