Georgi Ivanov has been elected President of Bulgarian Football Union

Georgi Ivanov was elected President of the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) in the first round of voting during its extraordinary congress on March 15. Ivanov was backed by 235 votes. He was one of the seven contenders for the post. Dimitar Berbatov came second, backed by 181 votes.
Ivanov is the successor of Borislav Mihaylov, who stepped down on November 27, 2023. Mihaylov's resignation was accepted today during the General Assembly with 303 votes for and 12 against, and then the delegates voted to discharge the responsibility of the current Executive Committee.
At the end of the BFU Congress, the members of the new Executive Committee of the BFU became clear, in which all the proposals of Georgi Ivanov found a place, and the only name that was proposed by the clubs was that of Dimitar Georgiev.
The new Executive Committee of the BFU is composed as follows: Prof. Nikolay Izov, Mihail Statev, Lyubomir Benovski, Nikolay Andreev, Mila Hristova, Rumen Valkov, Atanas Karaivanov, Nikolay Lazarov, Daniel Panov, Kalin Kamenov, Plamen Manolov, Teodor Todorov and Dimitar Georgiev.
