GERB-UDF after consultations with President: We will propose a government with a PM from GERB

We bear the responsibility and we will propose a government that will be of the minority. I have been Prime Minister three times and a fourth term is in excess. We will propose a Prime Minister from GERB. Most likely I will take the file (with the government-forming mandate), along with the candidate for Prime Minister, a government can only happen in the first mandate, said GERB leader Boyko Borissov after consultations with President Rumen Radev on June 24.

In his words, the electoral system has taken MPs from GERB and transferred them to the smaller parties, which has put GERB-UDF in an impossible position to make a stable government.

Borissov explained that he expects support for such a government from all responsible people who do not want the country to go to elections for the seventh time.

"It will be the same result or worse for everyone. The other option is to change the electoral system. The penultimate and penultimate put ultimatums that only with their mandate can a government be formed, this prejudges any talks,” he said.

Borissov reiterated his view that the only option to have a regular government is with the first mandate, which will be handed over to GERB-UDF.

He urged everyone to calm down.

"We have one or two weeks to think it over. New elections is a bad decision. Everyone needs to take a step back. There is no such thing as experts, everyone before entering government is an expert," the GERB leader stressed.

Under the Constitution, the first two mandates go to the two largest groups in Parliament, GERB-UDF and MRF. If they fail to form a government, the President hands over the third mandate to a parliamentary group at his discretion. If it fails too, a caretaker government is appointed and parliamentary elections are scheduled within two months.
