Parliament approved to set up an ad hoc committee of inquiry into the facts and circumstances surrounding the activity of murdered Martin Bozhanov
With 192 votes in favour and only one against on February 7, the Parliament adopted the establishment of an Ad Hoc Committee of Inquiry into the facts and circumstances regarding the existence of unregulated influence in the justice system and the involvement of representatives of the judiciary, incompatible with the standards of independence and professional ethics.
The Ad Hoc Committee will be elected for a period of 3 months.
Nikola Minchev from “We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria” was elected as the chairman, while Manuel Manev from GERB-UDF and Hamid Hamid from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) were elected as deputy chairmen.
The proposal of "There is Such a People" to have the committee on a parity basis was not accepted.
The proposal of the Bulgarian Socialist Party that after the end of the work of the committee legislative changes be drafted to avoid such practices was also rejected.
