BSP, "Vazrazhdane" and TISP tabled a vote of no confidence over the policy in the field of defence

The first parliamentary sitting after the local elections failed due to lack of a quorum on November 8. Three of the parliamentary parties expectedly tabled a new vote of no confidence in the government today. The BSP for Bulgaria, Vazrazhdane and There is Such a People believe that the cabinet is failing on defence and national security. There is also no progress on the issue of Schengen accession.

This is the second vote of no confidence against the government led by Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov. The government survived the first one in October. It was related to the energy sector and was then tabled by BSP for Bulgaria, There is Such a People and Vazrazhdane. The motive of the new no confidence motion is the government’s inability to ensure the national security and defence of the country.

"We are submitting a vote of no confidence on defence and national security, this is our vote and the BSP's vote, which you know from before the elections, along with the signatures of Vazrazhdane and There is Such a People. Part of the motives are Schengen - you see that there is no progress, so the topics are important," said Kornelia Ninova, chairwoman of the BSP parliamentary group.

According to "Vazrazhdane", the new vote has a chance because of the GERB-UDF wavering.

"Mr Borissov was disappointed after the local elections, that is why we are giving a wonderful opportunity to punish those who lied to him - WCC-DB, let him support the vote. - Will you seek his support? - Yes, if he comes to the National Assembly, we will," said Kostadin Kostadinov, chairman of the Vazrazhdane parliamentary group.

Doubt that the government will survive anyway was expressed by "There is Such a People".

"The point is that this is a political act and is a demonstration of intransigence, whether it passes or not, this government can fall without a vote of no confidence," said Toshko Yordanov - chairman of There is Such a People PG.

Today the MPs failed to gather for a meeting and it failed due to lack of quorum.

"We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria" came in and did not register, they sabotaged their own governance," Toshko Yordanov said.

BSP for Bulgaria, Vazrazhdane and There is Such a People were in the hall. The explanation of one of the leaders of WCC-DB was that they were waiting for GERB.

However, the lack of MPs from the ruling party also led to serious criticism from the opposition.

"We have a lot of important things to solve, we have to start the tax laws, the budget, which is already late and is the most important law in the country, reprehensible behaviour," Kornelia Ninova of BSP said.

Parliament’s sitting was cancelled after two attempts to secure a quorum. Tomorrow, a new attempt will be made.
